We did it! In the latest software version (v13) of the RB5350 decoder, we have implemented a solution that allows automatic braking of the locomotive depending on the semaphore indications.

This system is an alternative to the ABC system in locomotive decoders and works completely independently of the application or program on the PC. It uses the detection of the locomotive address on an isolated section by RailCom, and then, via LocoNet, sends braking action or speed change to the Command station.

The new version of the software for RB5350 allows you to configure:

  • Normal braking according to the locomotive speed curve,

  • Emergency braking,

  • Reducing the speed to a certain value.

Importantly, the locomotive response can be independently set for both the active and inactive state of the external signal. Thanks to this, the system can be used not only to stop trains before a semaphore, but also to automatically limit its speed on selected sections of the layout. To configure this, a new screen has been created in the Railbox Railroad control application.

The System works with command stations with RailCom function and LocoNet bus, i.e.: RB1110, Z21 (black) and DR5000 (YD7001) or YD7010.

To implement the system, it is necessary to use an additional RB9550 adapter to enable the connection of two decoders having different power sources.

It is worth noting, that a parallel direct connection of a red lamp to the adapter is possible, which also can be controlled by any accessory decoder or button. The Adapter will be avaliable soon.

For a detailed description of the operation, connection diagrams and configuration, refer to the instructions on the RB5350 product page.

Have fun while playing with your model railroad

and see You soon!
